My story

I understand the feeling of wanting to give up

Depression
Anxiety
Panic attacks
Grief
Trauma

I’ve personally struggled with:

I understand feeling isolated, stuck, frustrated, empty, shamed, exhausted, misunderstood, overwhelmed, afraid, and hopeless.

Finding Hope Again

After years of dealing with debilitating depression and anxiety, I finally gained enough courage to seek help. During this time, I was both dismissed by the healthcare system and prescribed medications, without my knowledge or understanding about my options or potential side effects.

I saw many different types of practitioners, and went to countless therapy sessions, trying to find answers that could explain why I felt the way that I did. It wasn’t until I finally met with a Naturopathic Doctor, who listened and validated what I was going through, that I finally felt hopeful. I had finally found the answers to what I was searching for.

I became a Naturopathic Doctor to challenge and change the way that mental health is treated, and to provide the answers and results that people need. My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgemental space where people can share their stories. I want to help others regain their hope for an optimistic future, in the same way that I did.

 FAQs

  • Naturopathic medicine is a distinct form of primary health care that combines scientific knowledge with natural forms of medicine. The main objective of naturopathic medicine is to find and treat the root cause of illness while using the least invasive approach necessary. There are 6 main principles that naturopathic medicine follows:

    1. Do no harm

    2. The healing power of nature

    3. Identify and treat the cause

    4. Doctor as teacher

    5. Treat the whole person

    6. Prevention

  • Similar to chiropractors, doctors and dentists, NDs must complete an undergraduate degree before entering a four year, full-time naturopathic medical program. The program includes medical and clinical sciences, diagnostics, naturopathic treatments, and extensive clinical experience.

  • Naturopathic medicine is not covered under MSP. Most ND visits are covered under extended health plans. Please reach out to your insurance company to find out if you are covered.

  • I will do my best to communicate with all health care professionals upon request, and if necessary. I believe in an integrative approach where practitioners work together to provide the best care for the patient. Ultimately, you are in control.

  • No. NDs are trained in pharmacology. In BC, NDs are permitted to prescribe pharmaceuticals upon the completion of additional training and successfully passing an exam. I believe medication serves a very important purpose but it is not the only solution to a complex problem.
